Income Support Information

Income Support

What is it?

Income Support is a means-tested benefit for people who are not working (or only working part-time). Special rules allow some carers to claim even if they are working full-time.

You may be able to get help with the cost of your mortgage or home loan through Income Support. For more information see help with housing costs.

Income Support is gradually being replaced by Universal Credit. If you have to make a claim for Universal Credit in your area then any help will be through the Personal Element of Universal Credit.

Can I get it?

The rules about who can claim Income Support are complicated. Please get more information on Income Support rules as they apply to you:

The amount you qualify for depends on your income and savings. If you go through the calculator we will work out whether you are entitled to Income Support and how much you might be able to claim.
