Incapable of work for over 52 weeks

If you (or your partner) have been incapable of work for over 52 weeks then you may qualify for a disability premium in means-tested benefits.

Most people who have been in capable of work for over 52 weeks are entitled to other benefits. These ‘qualifying benefits’ give entitlement to the disability premium and are the normal method through which it is awarded.

The inclusion of this category is predominantly for people who were where classified ‘incapable of work’ under the old Incapacity Benefit test. This system no longer applies to most new claimants.
