The eligibility rules for the savings credit part of Pension Credit changed on  April 6 2016. 

Since this date the savings credit part of Pension Credit can only be claimed by:

• Single people who reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016. This is men born before 6 April 1951 and women born before 6 April 1953

• Couples in which both people reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016

Couples where one person reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016 and the other on or after 6 April 2016, can only get savings credit if they were already getting it immediately before 6 April 2016 and have remained entitled. They will not be eligible to make a new claim.

The age rule of being over 65 in order to claim the savings credit part of Pension Credit still applies.
