The Blind Person’s Allowance is an extra amount of income that blind people can earn without having to pay tax on it. The allowance is the same for everyone who is entitled to it, regardless of age or income.
If you answer ‘yes’ to this question the calculator will automatically add this entitlement to your personal tax allowance.
Blind Person’s Allowance is paid to people in England and Wales who are registered as blind with a local authority
It is paid to people in Scotland and Northern Ireland who:
- have been certified as blind by an eye specialist,
- or, have not been certified but are so blind that they cannot do any work for which eyesight is essential.
