Shared responsibility for care

How shared responsibility for care may affect Universal Credit

If someone has two (or more) carers who are each eligible for the Carer element, only one of them can actually receive the Carer element. The carers must decide between them who will get it.

If the carers can't agree who should get the Carer element, they will have to give more information which the DWP will use to decide. If one of them is already getting the Carer element, that person will continue to get it while the decision is being made.
